Product Spotlight: SonTek Argonaut-SL
0Easily installed on a riverbank, bridge abutment, or other vertical structure, the low-profile SonTek Argonaut-SL (Side-Looking) current meter is ideal for many current monitoring applications.
Argonaut current meters use sonar for precise water velocity flow measurements. The meter emits ultrasonic signals of known frequency into the water and then measures the reverberation frequency.
The difference in frequencies, called the Doppler shift, is proportional to the speed of the water traveling in the area.
Robust, all-digital signal processing ensures reliable data collection within a user-programmable velocity cell extending from 0.1 m (SL3000 system) up to 120 m (SL500 system). With three models to choose from, the SL can be used in channels of all sizes.
Ultra-narrow beam widths combined with side lobe suppression provide the superior acoustic directivity needed to achieve maximum horizontal range free of surface/bottom boundary interference.
The Argonaut-SL can measure to a resolution of 0.1 cm/s with +/- 1% accuracy of the measured velocity.
The SL supports multi-cell velocity profiling, capable of as many as 10 equally-spaced cells. It can also use one of its measurement cells for recording changes in water level.
Options are available for an external real-time LCD Flow Display, external battery pack, wave spectra output, analog data output, and Modbus interface. The SL also easily integrates into NexSens real-time data logging and telemetry systems, making it viable for a wide variety of unattended monitoring applications.
